True Cat Stories: It’s like having a toddler
Short one this time. I was playing with Sparrow last night with one of those wands with feathers on the end. Feathers are one of the (many) things she eats that she really shouldn’t, which is why the wand stays locked up when I’m not playing with her. That way, I can keep an eye on her and keep her from ingesting anything, right?
Not so much.
About three minutes in, she grabs hold on the wand, rips a feather off, and takes off running. I, of course, chase to grab it out of her mouth — so she gobbles it up and swallows as fast as possible, while running, and nearly chokes on the thing.
It’s too bad I’m never having kids. My cats have given me plenty of practice.

Cats + Christmas Trees.
People have described to me how they’ll climb up the tree and knock ornaments off, and eat the tinsel. And I’ve heard worse (and decidedly less conversable) things as well.
Kids, by comparison, sound easier =)
At Sparrow’s first Christmas, she would climb up the tree and then launch herself out of the middle at passers-by.
At Sparrow’s second Christmas, she tried to do this and knocked the entire tree over on top of herself, shattering many ornaments (to be fair, I did tell my roommates not to put glass ornaments on the tree and they did anyway). After that she didn’t climb the tree anymore.
She is fascinated with them, though, and spent the rest of last Christmas arranging her toys underneath the tree and hiding among the presents.
I’d never put tinsel on a tree. She likes to eat inedible things (string, paper, my shower curtain, Q-Tips, books) and it’s hard enough to Sparrow-proof my apartment. Tinsel would be a nightmare waiting to happen.
My guild leader and I were talking on vent one time, and in the middle of her conversation, suddenly I hear static. I see the green light light up, hear a little static, but I tell her that I can’t hear her.
This goes on for a few minutes. She unplugs the cord from the computer, plugs it back in … she checks settings … nothing seems to work.
Then she decides to follow the cord from the headset to the computer, and comes to the severed end of the cord full of small needle-like teeth marks.
She discovered that her new kitten likes to chew on cords =)
I don’t think I ever laughed so hard in my life.
Oh, and while reading this comment off to her, she told me not to forget to mention that it happened two other times =)

Best stuff on earth. Everything I don’t want gnawed gets a heavy coat. I go through a bottle every few months, but after having to replace the adapter cord for my laptop (and it’s a Mac, so the thing was $80), I figured it was worth it. Never lost a cord since.
I tried other sprays, but this is the only one that works. Another brand I tried she actually likes, and goes out of her way to eat stuff I spray with it. :-/
*rofl*
I’ll pass that along, thanks!
